As you know, the Sparrows have been studying the African savanna and it's animals. The Sparrows know the largest savanna is in Africa, and that these grasslands take up much of the continent. This morning during morning meeting, we began to home in on a specific area, the Serengeti. Using a map, the Sparrows got to see where the Serengeti is located in Tanzania.
Friends watched a video about the Serengeti, which shared facts about the place and its animals. Watching the video gave friends a visual and idea as to what the Serengeti looks like. We will continue to delve deeper into this area, exploring the land, the Maasai people, language, culture and more.
Right now, we are just working on saying Serengeti!

During our discussion, a friend asked where their houses are. We shared that we will explore this more and look at what people's houses may look like in this area.

Soon after, we had snack, which was crackers with cheese and/or hummus and bananas.

Next we had choice, where friends built towers and buildings out of magnatiles, played Cootie and Chutes and Ladders, and worked on their January self-portraits. These activities help friends to practice turn-taking, communication, problem solving, motor skills, counting, and team work. These skills are all beneficial to friends' development.

Ask your Sparrow the name of the largest savanna in Africa.
