Friday Fun

This morning during our morning meeting, Jaylen shared that he lost his first tooth! Jaylen walked around showing friends the new space between his teeth.
Congratulations, Jaylen!

During morning meeting, we read A Passion for Elephants. It was the story of scientist Cynthia Moss, how she moved to Africa to study elephants, and opened the Amboseli National Park.

During choice, the Sparrows engaged in different centers around the room. Some friends were busy in the dramatic play area, taking orders and planning.

In the building area, friends constructed all sorts of structures, such as houses and ships.

Getting set up for a picnic.

Today friends worked on their November self-portraits. It is so neat to see the progress the Sparrows have made in just a short couple of months. Friends grips, fine motor control and attention to detail have truly grown since September.

We continued working on painting the numbers for our classroom number line. The Sparrows practiced refining their fine and gross motor skills as they held the small sponge handle, and controlled their arm and shoulder movements. As friends painted, some friends noticed that when you mixed certain colors together, they made a new color.
"When you mix the blue and the yellow, it makes green."
Friends excitedly participated in painting the numbers, and could be heard asking, "Is it my turn yet? Can I do my five now?"

Later on, our 4th grade buddies stopped by to take part in choice time with us. Friends chose between books and puzzles, flubber, legos, magnatiles, and wedgits. Today friends seemed to really find a buddy they connected with.
Ask your Sparrow who their 4th grade partner is.

After lunch, Thea's mom and dad, Erin and Brian, came in for a cupcake birthday celebration. Each friend got a cupcake and got to make cupcake art using sprinkles, M&Ms, and stars.

Happy birthday, Thea!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
