After going through the routine, Alicia explained that next week we will be working on an identity doll with our 4th grade buddies. Our buddies will help us decorate and dress our individual dolls. In order for our buddies to be able to help us, we need to be able to tell them what we would like to wear. Alicia reviewed ropa (clothing), and then friends went around the circle, using the swatter, calling out (in Spanish) the articles of clothing that they would like to use to dress their identity dolls.
After each friend had a turn to share how they would dress their doll, friends played Matamoscas for further practice and review.
Ask your Sparrow how to say shirt in Spanish.
Lastly, as requested, the Sparrows played a round of Camina Camina, in which they practiced moving around the room using different modes of transportation/ Alicia called out bote (boat), motocicleta (motorcycle), avion (airplane), tren (train) and more.
We sang Adios, Hasta Luego to end our time together. Today was Thea's turn to squeeze La Vaca.
During our morning meeting, we read Rhinos Horn-Faced Chargers. The book gave us a ton of factual information!
1. Rhinos have three toes.
2. Rhinos are herbivores.
3. White and black rhinos habitat is the African savanna.
4. If a rhinos horn falls off, it can grow back.
Ask your Sparrow, if you were to see a rhinos footprint, how many toe marks would you see?
Or ask about any of the facts listed above!
Given the frigid temperature outside, the Sparrows stayed inside for some more indoor fun. We covered the tables in shaving cream, and friends enjoyed sensory play. We also put out Playstix, where friends pieced together the different colored pieces and their grooves to build all sorts of creations. Friends used problem solving skills to stabilize and fit the pieces together.
