The Great Safari Rescue Expedition

Today in art Amanda shared a video with the class about how some artists in Kenya made animal sculptures out of used flip flops. Then she displayed some recycled material and showed an example of how to use it. Shortly after, she gave each friend some material and a picture of their animal as a guide.
Next class, friends will further decorate their creations.

Sparrows were inspired and imaginative; they used the materials in a very unconventional and creative way.

After morning meeting, friends realized that the animals from our Safari Board disappeared!! Sparrows started to ask a lot of questions, wondering what happened to their beloved animals. Suddenly, we found a note that gave us some clues as to their whereabouts.
It seemed that the drought pushed the animals to look for some water. The animals had a meeting and decided to travel in pairs, that way they would have a better chance of finding water. However, they confronted a huge, very windy storm that disoriented them and they got lost.
The Sparrows did not wait a minute longer and decided to go on a Safari rescue. They put their vests on, grabbed their binoculars and maps and off they went.
In spite of all the dangers, the Sparrows followed their maps and bravely rescued all the animals.

The first two animals rescued were the zebra and the African wild dog, then the leopard and lion. Luckily the animals left footprints, which were a huge help!

Then the black rhino and the giraffe were next, followed by the cheetah and white rhino.

While the Sparrows were searching for their animals, some locals stopped them to ask what they were doing and the purpose of their expedition.
Sparrows continued with their trip and soon they found the hippopotamus and the crocodile. A few miles further, they found the last pair: the white-backed vulture and the elephant.

Finally, Sparrows and their animals were happily reunited!
Back in the classroom, friends gave the animals water and food, cuddled them for a bit and then they let them rest.
What a great adventure!!
Ask your brave Sparrow what their favorite part of the safari rescue was.
