The past few days the Sparrows have been working on a couple of projects. On Monday, friends started working on their savanna inspired pictures to put on display in our art gallery. Throughout the week friends painted their background sunsets with watercolors, as well as have drawn their animals silhouettes, ground and trees to paste on top. With this, each friend has had the opportunity to practice their cutting skills to cut out their animals, ground and trees, and to see art as a process.
Another project we have been working on is our Harvest Fest T-shirts. On Tuesday, friends placed their shirts into a bucket of dye and let them soak. Yesterday, we started stamping on our leaf prints. We decided on leaf stamps because it goes with the Fall season. Friends chose which colors to stamp based on the colors of the changing leaves they have noticed outside.
We have had discussions about the seasons, specifically Fall and what happens during Fall.
Ask your Sparrow what happens to the leaves/trees in Fall and why.
This morning we had assembly where we listened to Keisha and Jayne's enrichment program choir. We also learned about the Kindness Rocks Project that all of lower school will be participating in. During our community time on Wednesday, November 7th, the Sparrows and their 4th grade buddies will work on this collaborative lower school project together. Each class and their partners will be participating in this awesome project.

Following assembly, we came back to the classroom for morning meeting, after which friends took part in a literacy activity. Using the Smartboard, the Sparrows reviewed some letters we have been working on, writing them out and making their sounds, and then practiced doing the same thing with a new batch of letters. Friends were asked to write a certain letter and/or write a letter and then have friends guess which one it wass. After each friend would write a letter, the friend and the whole class would make its sound. Before each Sparrow went back to their space on the rug, they came up with a word that began with the letter written.
Great work, Sparrows!
Ask your Sparrow to make the sound of the H and/or U.
Today we celebrated Lincoln's birthday! Friends enjoyed pizza and cupcakes for lunch!
Make sure to check your Sparrow's bag for their party favor!
Happy birthday, Lincoln!
