Today the Sparrows participated in the lower school Kindness Rocks project.
The Sparrows worked alongside their 4th grade buddies, and grown ups. Friends split up between the two rooms, Mohan's 4th grade classroom and the Sparrow classroom. Using already painted rocks, which were painted by students in the upper grades and teachers, friends used paint pens to write and draw kind messages.
This project was a great collaborative activity among all of lower school, and was a wonderful way for friends to connect to send a positive message of kindness. All friends worked together for a common cause, it was peaceful and heartwarming to watch.
Take a look below to see some of the kind messages that friends wish to spread out into our world
Since there was some time left over once friends completed the project, partners had a little bit of choice of time together.
Later on, the Sparrows walked down to the art room to see Amanda for art class.
While the ceramic safari animals cooled from being fired in the kiln to set the glaze, friends finished working on a bead project from a little while back. Not too long ago, the Sparrows painted wooden beads and mixed them around in paint in "bead bowls." Today, friends used long wires to string those beads, and other beads Amanda set out, to create necklaces.
Friends worked on their pinch grip through this activity. It was interesting to see how each friend approached the activity. Some friends made patterns with colors, patterns with the different size beads, and noticed that some beads were too small to fit on the wire. Friends liked stringing a bead at the top, holding the wire up right, and then watching it fall down with the rest of the beads already on there.
A couple friends continued to work on painting the numbers for our classroom number line.
Ask your Sparrow what kind message they want to share with others.
