This morning the Sparrows played "I have/Who has?" Last week we played this game with numbers, so friends already have had some practice! Today we played with letters. Each Sparrow received two cards. On the card are two letters, one large letter for the "I have," and one small letter for the "Who has?" The friend who had the card with the letter "A" started us off. The cards however do not go in order of the alphabet.

The "I have/Who has?" game is a fun and playful way for friends to practice letter recognition, as well as listening and vocabulary skills. The game has a catchy rhythm. If a Sparrow got stuck, another Sparrow was right there to help them out!
Great teamwork, Sparrows!

Following our morning meeting, friends went off into choice time.

Today we brought out marble run. Friends worked collaboratively to build marble run towers. Through this friends are practicing communication with peers, as well as learning to build stable structures as these pieces are very light and tip easily. Friends learned they need a base in order to build a sturdy structure. This activity takes a lot of trial and error. Friends were patient with themselves and one another while building. Once friends built a structure, they would come over and ask for a marble and then watch the marble run through, sometimes having to reposition a piece.

Another choice in the room was letter bingo. On these bingo cards are uppercase and lowercase letters. The Sparrows worked on letter recognition, letter-sound correspondence, and even came up with words for some of the letters.

The drawing table is always a popular choice in the Sparrow classroom!

Later on we brought out the game Cootie. Friends rotated throughout this activity. The Sparrows really enjoy this game and getting to build their own bugs.

Ask your Sparrow if they can write the letter C (either in the air or on a piece of paper).

Outside, friends made pumpkin pie, pumpkin stew, and other pumpkin mixtures.

Digging for worms.

Before lining up to come inside, friends worked together to clean up our playground.

Today we celebrated Dylan's 5th birthday with some yummy Hulk green cupcakes.

Happy birthday, Dylan!
