Journal writing February 28, 2019

Today in Music we played Chucu, Chaca and Galloping Horses. The children enjoyed this along with free time to play with instruments.

Children had the opportunity to cut words out of magazines and put them aside to make collages. This improves fine motor skills and finger strength. They also had the opportunity to make pictures with stamps.

During free choice time, friends played with magna tiles  and marble run where ideas were being exchanged through amazing conversations between friends.

The children had Journal time where they wrote what they would do with their Savannah animal if it became their pet.

Literacy Stations

Today in Spanish class friends reviewed the Safari Animal vocabulary, then they played "Camina, Camina" game.

During Morning Meeting Friends played "I have, You have" with animal pictures. 

Then for a Literacy Activity Sparrows were divided in groups of 4 Friends. The teachers set up 3 stations. First Station: Friends wrote on sand their own names and their favorite letters. Second station: Friends had to identify on a magazine upper case and lower case letters or words if they preferred, cut and glued them on a piece of paper. Third Station: Friends used letters shaped cookie cutters and flubber. 

Each group started in one station and alternated after a time set up, in this way all Sparrows had the opportunity to enjoy the activities. Friends practiced and learned more about letters. Friends are also becoming more comfortable interacting with peers in one designed activity.

Weekend News

Lincoln – We went to Arnold’s and I played the claw but I didn’t win. After we went to dinner at home.

Asha – I played with Super Heroes.

Thea – I went to the beach. I played with Vivian and watched Alana one time.

Jessica – Teddy slept over and slept for a very long time. We had movie night and watched “Bigfoot”.

Vivian – I went to my Grandma’s house and I slept over. We slept in a tent in a sleeping bag. The next day Mommy came to pick me up and we went to swim class.

Henry – I went to the nature center and looked at animals. I saw skunk and a bunny that bites and two”mouses” that bite. I went in the forest. I got a stuffed animal snake to take home.

Zev – I played with Mommy. I watched Blippy and Morfo. I had peanut butter and jelly.

Millie – I played with your sister and PJ Masks. I had spaghetti at home.

Gracie – I snuggled with Lev and I tackled Lev in bed.

Natey – I went Jonah, my cousin’s party. I was so happy. I saw a scientist and there was magic.

Jaelyn – I went to the meetinghouse and we made sandwiches for homeless people. We packed up sandwiches and food in a white car. We went home. We went to Cozy for lunch. My sisters went to softball and mommy and I went home. Then we got a helmet and some shoes foe Sadie and Kaya. Then we went home.

Dylan – I watched “Wildcrats”. I ate breakfast. I brushed my teeth. Then I packed my stuff for school “Abington Friends”

Today we made patterns by cutting paper and making the patterns in the shape of the letter of our first name.

We played in the house as friends.

Some friends worked together to create a marble run.

Some friends built with magnatiles.
