The Sparrows began their morning in library with Michelle. Before reading, friends sat down on the rug and did a breathing exercise to get their minds and bodies ready. Michelle read Stop that Yawn!
After friends looked through the books set out on the table, and chose one to their liking, they walked over to the desk to have Ashanti check it out for them.
We had some time left over before we had to go back to our classroom. Friends found a spot on the rug or in a chair to read their books.
Soon after, we walked back to the classroom and continued in morning choice time.
Today, the Sparrows continued to work on creating their savanna animals. When it was a friend's turn to sketch their animal, they would pick the felt closest their animals color. Once the body of the animal was drawn and cut out, a teacher hot glued the pieces together, and once cooled, the friend stuffed their animal with cotton. The next step will be to add details and personal touches.
During morning meeting, we played shapes I Have/Who has. Friends identified the color and the shape on the card. For example, "I have a purple rectangle, who has a brown oval?"
Ask your Sparrow to find a shape in your house.
